For a German manufacturer of remote IOs, an existing gateway DTM was mapped into a gateway FDI package, which was integrated into ABB’s FDI asset management tool in a plant of a global chemical company.
This is the first time that the device configuration of field devices connected to the remote IO is possible in an FDI asset management system.
With a standardized process established at wetcon, this can be implemented analogously for almost any existing gateway DTM. However, direct reuse of the source code of such a gateway DTM is only possible to a very limited extent, as the FDI and FDT interfaces differ significantly and the technologies for implementing user interfaces are not compatible.
