About wetcon & Typical Customers

Here we answer questions about who we are, how we work and which industries and company sizes we most frequently work for. We also show how wetcon differs from traditional software agencies.

Which clients does wetcon typically work for?

Our clients mainly come from the automation industry. These include device manufacturers, system providers and industrial companies that want to develop or modernize software for their products, devices or platforms. We work closely with product management and development teams and see ourselves as a specialized partner for industrial software.

What project sizes does wetcon manage?

The spectrum ranges from focused prototypes or MVPs to delimited sub-projects (e.g. device integration, new HMI) and multi-year platform or product developments. What is important is not so much the absolute size, but that the focus is on industrial applications where quality, maintainability and integration into existing environments are paramount.

What distinguishes wetcon from a traditional software agency?

We come from industrial automation - not from the generalist corner. This means that we have in-depth domain knowledge of devices, fieldbuses, protocols and industrial processes and combine this with modern software architecture. We have been using industry standards such as OPC UA, FDI and FDT in real products for many years. We use AI where it provides real benefits in the industrial environment - as part of the solution or as a tool in development - without relinquishing our responsibility for architecture and quality.

Services & Specialist Focus

This section gives you an overview of our core services - from architecture and design to development and modern cross-platform solutions. We explain which specific problems we solve for our customers.

What specific problems does wetcon solve?

The focus is on industrial applications relating to device integration and IIoT. We develop and modernize software for device configuration and parameterization, asset and device management, HMIs and control stations, engineering tools, data acquisition, evaluation and visualization. In short: we connect devices, data and systems to create viable product solutions.

Does wetcon only take on the development or also the conception and architecture?

wetcon typically gets involved at an early stage: Based on existing requirements or existing solutions, we develop architecture, select suitable technologies and create prototypes or MVPs if required. Building on this, we take over the implementation - right through to operation, monitoring and further development. We understand conception, architecture and development as a coherent process.

Does wetcon also develop cross-platform apps and desktop solutions?

We develop cross-platform applications that run on mobile devices, industrial PCs and on the web. Depending on the scenario, we use technologies such as .NET MAUI, React Native or Blazor. The goal: a consistent user experience across different device classes - without unnecessary duplicate developments.

Technologies & Integration Expertise

Here you can find out which technologies and industry standards our solutions are based on and how we integrate existing systems, machines or on-premise software into modern architectures or the cloud.

What technologies does wetcon use for industrial software?

As a Microsoft partner, our focus is on modern, established technologies in the Microsoft and web environment. These include .NET and .NET Core, Node.js, React, .NET MAUI, Blazor, Azure and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Depending on the task at hand, we work with our customers to select the appropriate technology stack that fits the existing landscape and long-term strategy.

Does wetcon support industry standards such as OPC UA, FDI and FDT?

Yes, dealing with industry standards is part of our everyday work. We have been implementing OPC UA, FDI and FDT, among others, in customer projects for many years - for device configuration, diagnostics, integration into control systems or coupling to engineering tools, for example. On request, we also provide support with the strategic embedding of these standards in product roadmaps and platform concepts.

Can wetcon bring existing on-premise solutions into the cloud?

Many customers are faced with the question of how existing solutions can be further developed in cloud or hybrid scenarios. We provide support in assessing the initial situation, designing target architectures and migrating step by step. The spectrum ranges from pure cloud services and edge scenarios to combined on-premise/cloud solutions - always with an eye on operational security and maintainability.

AI Expertise & Possible Applications

This category covers all issues relating to the use of artificial intelligence - both in customer projects and in our own development processes. We show how AI creates real added value in software projects.

What role does AI play in projects with wetcon?

For us, artificial intelligence is not an end in itself, but a tool. We integrate AI functionalities where they usefully complement existing industrial software - for example in the form of assistant or agent functions that relieve users, process information or support decisions. At the same time, we make sure that the architecture, interfaces and data models remain resilient even without AI and that AI components can be integrated or removed in a controlled manner.

Does wetcon integrate AI directly into customers' software solutions?

Yes, if it makes technical sense, we design and integrate AI components directly into the solution - for example as a service in the existing architecture, as a cloud or edge component or embedded in existing workflows. Transparency is important to us: our customers understand which data is used, how decisions are made and how AI components can be operated and maintained in the long term.

Does wetcon itself use AI in software development?

Yes, we use AI tools specifically to make development processes more efficient and focused - for example, for small-scale code generation, analyses, tests or documentation. Architecture decisions, domain understanding and responsibility for the solution remain with the team. AI is a productivity booster for us, but it does not replace our architecture, industry and domain expertise.

Cooperation & Project Approach

We explain how a project with wetcon works, which methods we use and how we work with our clients' internal teams. This will give you a clear picture of how we work and communicate.

How does a typical project with wetcon work?

It all starts with requirements and the existing environment. In joint workshops, we define goals, use cases and framework conditions. Building on this, we develop the architecture and technology stack and, if required, implement a prototype or MVP. This is followed by implementation, testing and commissioning. After the go-live, we support the operation, monitoring and continuous development of the solution.

How does wetcon work organizationally - agile, classic, hybrid?

We work predominantly agile, in close coordination with product management and development on the customer side. Depending on the project context, we combine agile methods with clear milestones and decision points. Transparency is important to us: our customers can always see where the project stands and what decisions need to be made.

Does wetcon also work with existing development teams?

Yes, we often work as an extension or sparring partner for internal development teams. For example, we take on the architecture, device integration, selected components or prototypes, while the customer team is responsible for other parts of the implementation. The aim is always to share know-how and create solutions that can also be understood and further developed by the customer's team.

Project Start, Costs & Planning Security

In this section, we answer questions about starting a project with us, typical cost frameworks and factors that enable realistic planning. You will also find out how quickly we can start new projects.

How can you take the first step with wetcon?

The easiest way is a non-binding discussion in which we look at the requirements, environment and goals together. On this basis, we provide an initial assessment of feasibility, a sensible approach and possible cooperation. You decide whether this becomes a project - we provide clarity first.

What does a typical project cost - and how can I as a customer realistically estimate costs and scope from the outset?

A blanket answer here would be dishonest.

Projects vary greatly in scope, complexity and environment. What we do offer, however, is a clear framework: In an initial meeting, we clarify objectives, requirements and boundary conditions. Based on this, you will receive a transparent cost estimate within a few working days.

Depending on the project context, billing is based on fixed-price sprints or an agreed daily rate - always with clear scope management and no hidden costs. The decisive factor for us is that the approach and model suit your project and your planning horizon.

How quickly can wetcon start a new project?

This depends on the scope and the initial situation. As a rule, the first step is a joint discussion for classification, followed by a rough cost and procedure outline. Smaller workshops or evaluations can usually start within a few weeks, larger projects after joint planning and coordination of resources.
