For a German manufacturer of remote I/Os, an existing gateway DTM was mapped to a gateway FDI package, which was integrated into the FDI Asset Management Tool from ABB in a plant belonging to a global chemical company.
This means that the device configuration of field devices connected to the remote I/O is now possible in an FDI asset management system for the first time.
Using a standardized process established at wetcon, this can be implemented analogously for almost any existing gateway DTM. However, direct reuse of the source code of such a gateway DTM is only possible to a very limited extent, as the FDI and FDT interfaces differ significantly and the technologies for implementing user interfaces are not compatible.
